The 80th anniversary of the D Day Landings is on 6th June 2024 and The Friends of Belle Vue Park, in partnership with WCBC are commemorating this very important event by holding a service of remembrance at St Giles Parish Church, a march through the city centre and a wreath laying service at the NVA Memorial at Bodhyfryd.

The service will start at 12:30, with the march from the church to Bodhyfryd commencing at 13:15. We would like to include children and their families from the Armed Forces attend the service.

The Military Associations in Wrexham will parade with their Standards on this memorial to those that fought on the beaches of Normandy.

We are looking for children from an Armed Forces families to take part and hold one of the eighteen flags of the nation’s. We intend to create an archway with the flags, as everyone leaves the church to go on the parade.

Armed forces champion, Cllr Beverly Parry Jones said: Wrexham has always had strong links with the Military, so it’s important for us to remember the sacrifices of the past, and also acknowledge the sacrifices of current serving Military personnel and their families.
