Parcel Delivery Scam Fraud Missed
SHARE

With Christmas getting closer, many of us will be expecting a greater number of parcels to be delivered to our homes, which in some cases will lead to missed delivery cards being posted through our doors.

Trading Standards are warning people to pay close attention to the cards that are posted to us as there’s a familiar scam expected to become even more frequent that’s very expensive for people.

DON’T GET SCAMMED BY FRAUDSTERS! SIGN UP FOR TIPS AND ALERTS ON SCAMS IN YOUR AREA

For many years in the lead up to Christmas, official-looking missed delivery cards have been circulated to homes informing people to telephone a number to arrange a re-delivery of a parcel.

However, this will put the person through to a premium-rate number and once the caller hears the start of a recorded message they’ll be charged a hefty sum, often over £300.

Some of these cards are designed to look like Royal Mail ones or resemble those of well-known companies, but others can claim to be from an official sounding delivery service. These cards have become more sophisticated over time so Trading Standards advise you to pay close attention to any cards you receive.

If you want to report something you think is suspicious, please contact either Citizens Advice Consumer Services on 03454 040506 or North Wales Police on 101.

Keep safe from fraudsters, get our alerts!
