The British Red Cross is looking for 2 full time Caseworkers for their Refugee Support (Syrian Vulnerable Person) Programme.

The successful candidates will be responsible for delivering high quality and person centred support services for Syrian refugees who have been relocated to the North Wales area under the Syrian Vulnerable Persons Relocation Scheme.

Make sure you know about changes to Covid-19 restrictions in Wales

There’ll be a range of duties designed to develop, maintain and promote the essential services available and to help clients become familiar with the local area by providing information, advice and advocacy in addition to offering practical help.

Both Refugee Support Workers will be:

Strong communicators with the ability to adapt communications based on the audience and have experience in providing sensitive, safe and empowering support to distressed people in vulnerable situations

Able to plan, deliver and evaluate sessions and social activities – and to adapt them to the diverse needs of a group of people from varying cultures, languages, and background

Knowledgeable and have an understanding of issues affecting refugees.

They will have experience of delivering casework with vulnerable clients and can collaboratively work with cross-agency partnerships.

Team players able to work as part of a team within what can sometimes be a high-pressure environment. They will also have experience supporting volunteers.

Confident to use email, word processing, database and spreadsheet packages and have strong IT and organisational knowledge.

As travel is a feature of this role, a full driving licence and access to a vehicle is also essential.

The postholders will cover either Wrexham or Denbighshire and will initially work from home due to Covid restrictions.

Salary is £19,590 per annum and the closing date for applications is 9 May 2021. It is a fixed term contract until 31 March 2022
