Based inside a large tepee on Queens Square, access to Hwb Cymraeg is free until 6pm throughout the long weekend.

Whether your Welsh language skills only stretch as far as ‘diolch,’ un,dau tri – or you are a fully fluent Welsh speaker, Hwb Cymraeg at this year’s Focus Wales will be an ideal opportunity to indulge in the Welsh language and culture.

On Thursday there will be cakes and a chat from 12, followed by the opportunity to learn some Welsh at 12.30, and a board games session all happening before local and international acts start to fill the venue with music.

Friday’s activities start at 10am with cake and a chat, followed by a further opportunity to learn Welsh and play board games, ahead of the musical acts taking to the stage in the afternoon.

Saturday is family day at Hwb Cymraeg with activities such as Ukulele session, Silent disco, and drama workshops planned for the entire family to enjoy.

As well as a busy timetable of events, a fully stocked bar and hot drinks will be available throughout the Festival inside the Hwb Cymraeg Teepee-making it an ideal venue to meet with friends, and make new contacts over the Focus Wales festival period.

Thanks in part to the success of the Wrexham AFC football club, there is a growing international knowledge of our culture, language and heritage – Hwb Cymraeg will be the focus of Welsh Culture, language and heritage over the weekend so come and soak up the atmosphere, or learn a little Welsh that you can use in your daily life or on social media.

Stephen Jones, Welsh Language Officer at Wrexham Council said: “I would like to thank all the organisation involved in the event including: Menter Iaith Fflint a Wrecsam, Mudiad Meithrin, Coleg Cambria, Focus Wales,  Thatre Clwyd, Dysgu Cymraeg Gogledd Dwyrain and the Urdd.”
