People from across the city are being encouraged to come together for the Big Wrexham Picnic this weekend.

The event will be held on Saturday, June 22 in Bellevue Park to celebrate local communities, and promises to be lots of fun!

So please bring your own food and enjoy an afternoon of arts, crafts, sports, music, science and storytelling in one of Wrexham’s most beautiful parks.

Music will include performances by Victoria School Choir and Ysgol Clywedog steel band, and if you’re feeling sporty you can take part in tennis activities and penalty shoot-outs!

The event is part of national Refugee Week, and is being organised by partner organisations from across Wrexham, including TCC (Trefnu Cymunedol Cymru), Wrexham Council and North Wales Police.

Bobbi Cockcroft, Community Organiser at TCC, says: “The theme is ‘Our Home’ and we want to celebrate everything about Wrexham as part of national Refugee Week.

“Wrexham has so much going for it and is a fantastic place to live – so please come along to Bellevue Park and help us celebrate our city.

“It’s going to be a lot of fun, with plenty of entertainment and activities. And let’s be honest…who doesn’t love a picnic?! We’ll see you on Saturday!”

Councillor Paul Roberts, Wrexham Council’s Lead Member for Partnerships, says: “We have so many wonderful, welcoming communities in Wrexham and I hope as many people as possible will come along.

“This promises to be a fantastic event and a lovely way to celebrate ‘Our Home.’”

The event starts at 1pm, and all activities are free.

Parking is limited around Bellevue, so why not walk in…or hop on public transport?

Or try parking in one of the main car parks in the city centre and walking across to the park (most of the main car parks are just a short distance away).
