Guest article written by John Parr

With our world ablaze by war, a convincing and persuasive message from the WWI battlefield advocates the need for peace.

John Parr’s short moving film A Pack of Five features soldiers taking a moment’s rest from the horrors of battle, sharing a smoke and memories of home. John Parr, a Grammy nominated artist has written, directed and composed the music for the film. John is widely known, having worked on 15 Hollywood films and achieved the highest musical success with two No.1 hits, one of which was the notable St Elmo’s fire.

John says, “ My hope is that all who see the film will take its message to heart and work dauntlessly for a world without war. At this time of unprecedented conflict around the world, it is a clear call for resolute action by world leaders to commit themselves to peaceful conflict resolution”

The film is written and produced by BAFTA Cymru Qualifying Director John Parr and also produced by Simon Howlett and Delyth Lloyd. It also features contributions from winning bards, Alan Llwyd and Ceri Wyn Jones, the

Treorchy Male Voice Choir and the Harry Secombe Youth Musical Theatre Company. This short and poignant film will be screened at Wrexham Library on Tuesday, August 5 at 6pm. The event is free of charge but you will need to reserve your place by contacting the library on 01978 292090 | library@wrexham.gov.uk
