Wrexham Council is pleased to confirm that the Scouts and Guides headquarters will relocate from its current home near Wrexham General Train Station to the former community centre in Rhosddu.

The move, which is part of the Wrexham Gateway Regeneration project, will ensure these much-valued youth organisations continue to thrive in a dedicated community setting.

The former community centre has been vacant for the past three years and will – subject to planning permission – eventually be replaced by new, purpose-built facilities that better meet the long-term needs of the Scouts, Guides and wider community.

Councillor Mark Pritchard, Leader of Wrexham Council, said: “We’re proud to support the Scouts and Guides as they move into their new home in Rhosddu.

“These groups play a vital role in developing our young people, and it’s important they have a base that reflects the value they bring to our communities.”

The community centre is located in Stansty ward and the move is likely to be completed by the end of next year.

Local councillor, Councillor I David Bithell MBE, added: “I’m delighted we’ve secured a location that not only meets their current needs but forms part of a longer-term vision.

“Reusing the Rhosddu site keeps the Scouts and Guides active and visible in the community, and sets the stage for modern, purpose-built facilities that will benefit generations to come.”

Gemma Williams, Wrexham Girlguiding Division Commissioner, said: “Wrexham Girlguiding are excited by this new opportunity and welcome working with the council and partners to establish a modern facility close to the city centre, which will meet the needs of our members and the wider community.”

Joanne Briggs, District Lead Volunteer at Wrexham Scouts, said: “As the district lead volunteer for Wrexham Scouts, I am delighted that our headquarters will be relocating to the new community centre in Rhosddu. This is an exciting opportunity for us to be an even more visible and active part of the local community.

“Scouting plays a vital role in developing young people, and it’s important that we have a dedicated space that meets our needs. The new facility will allow us to continue thriving and providing valuable experiences for the youth of Wrexham.

“We very much look forward to moving into this community-focused setting and being able to work even more closely with local residents. This relocation is a positive step that will benefit both the Scouts and the wider Rhosddu area for generations to come.”

The relocation aligns with the broader Wrexham Gateway Regeneration project, which continues to drive investment, opportunity and community-focused development across the town.

The project includes proposals for a new transport hub at the front of the train station, providing improved interchange between rail, bus and other modes of travel, as well as enhanced walking, wheeling and cycling routes.
