Across the authority, we have dedicated teams in our library services who work non-stop to deliver a schedule of activities within their local communities to cater for all.

As well as shelves jam packed with books to suit every taste, our local libraries deliver more than reading materials. Today, we’ll take a look at what awaits you on your next visit to Cefn Mawr library.

Situated on Plas Kynaston Lane, visitors have a variety of events to choose from.

Let’s get crafty

There is plenty to do for the artists among us here at Cefn Mawr library. Every Monday 1 – 4 pm, they host the Knitting, Crochet & Craft group.

The group is designed for anyone who is interested in all things arts and crafts. This is an excellent space for fans of knitting, sewing, embroidery, card making, crochet, macramé, to name a few.

Attendees can join in and bring along whatever it is you are currently working on. You can alternatively just turn up and have a chat with fellow crafters.

It’s free to attend and refreshments are provided but please bring your own mug.

For the younger visitors to the library, there is a Lego Club every Wednesday 3.15 – 4 pm.

These sessions help children learn various soft skills that will teach them how to work and interact with others. Through a fun way of learning, children can develop creative thinking, teamwork, communication, conflict resolution and problem-solving skills.

Sessions are suitable for ages 4+ and are free to attend. There’s no booking required, just turn up and get involved.

Services for the community

There are sessions held regularly at the Cefn Mawr library that can help the local community as a whole.

On the second and fourth Monday of each month, people can attend the Citizens Advice drop in sessions 1.30 – 4.30 pm.

Here, visitors can get free, independent, impartial, confidential advice on any topic including employment, benefits and debt. They help you find a way forward, whatever the problem so do call in and chat to one of their experts.

On the third Monday of every month 2 – 4 pm, there is an Integrated Autism Service drop-in session.

If you live with autism, or you support an autistic adult or child, you can come along to the sessions to get advice and support and find out about specialist services that could help you.

Sessions are free and you are welcome to attend at any point during them with no need to book in advance.

Events to bring us together

On the first Thursday of the month, there is the Cefn Remembers group for those who want to chat about past memories or just sit in and listen to some tales from days gone by.

Whether you are local or from further afield, you are more than welcome to join in the group as they meet between 3 – 4 pm. Feel free to bring along any items or photos that you would like to share with the group.

Run in partnership between Cefn Mawr library and Cefn Mawr Museum, this free event is open to all with refreshments provided.

If you like reading and chatting about books, there is the perfect group for you. On the last Thursday of each month, 2 – 3 pm, the Adult Reading Group meet up to bring like-minded book worms together.

This is a free event that is open to all and light refreshments will be provided. For further details on all the events mentioned here and more, head over to our libraries events page. Alternatively, you can call Cefn Mawr library 01978 820938 or email cefnmawr.library@wrexham.gov.uk for more information.
