Today, we’ll have a look at what is in store for those visiting Ruabon library.

Crafting and building

Every Monday, children can come along and join in with the Lego Club between 3.15 and 4.15 pm.

These sessions help children learn various soft skills that will teach them how to work and interact with others. Through a fun way of learning, children can develop creative thinking, teamwork, communication, conflict resolution and problem-solving skills.

Sessions are suitable for ages 4+ and are free to attend. There’s no booking required, just turn up and get involved.

For the grown-ups, there is a weekly Knit and Natter Group every Friday 2 – 4 pm. Here, you can have a chat while you get on with nay sort of knitting or crocheting project you may have.

Whether you knit, crochet, embroider, cross-stitch or enjoy another kind of needlecraft, you are very welcome. Tea and coffee is provided.

Avid readers to Welsh speakers

If you would like to practice speaking Welsh in a relaxed and informal setting over a cuppa, there is the Siarad Cymraeg sessions every Monday 1.45 – 2.45 pm.

The sessions are ideal for beginners and anyone with an interest in the language, all are welcome.

It’s free to attend and there’s no need to book in advance. Tea and coffee will also be provided.

If you like reading and chatting about books, there is the perfect group for you. On the last Wednesday of each month, 2 – 3 pm, the Ruabon Readers meet up to bring like-minded book worms together.

This is a free event that is open to all with tea and coffee provided.

Coming together as a community

Community agents work with anyone over 50 and living in Wrexham to support them in making informed choices about present and future needs.

They can help you feel more independent, secure and cared for, and to have a better quality of life.

Angie is the community agent for the Ruabon area. She holds informal drop-in sessions on the first Thursday of every month, 11 am – 12 pm. Feel free to come along for a chat with her about any queries you may have. There is no need to make an appointment.

For more information, you can email ruaboncommunityagent@avow.org.

Friendship Groups are great ways to prevent isolation and loneliness. They offer a chance to find companionship, too. Friends can also increase somebody’s sense of belonging and purpose, boost happiness and reduce stress.

Run by the Ruabon community agent, the first Thursday of every month, 12 – 1 pm, sees the Friendship Group get together.

It is ideal for those who feel they need the company or want to make new friends. It’s a time to chat, share memories and make new friends over a cuppa.

For further details on all the events mentioned here and more, head over to our libraries events page. Alternatively, you can call Ruabon library on 01978 822002 or email ruabon.library@wrexham.gov.uk for more information.
