Wrexham’s iconic markets are once again taking part in the national Love Your Local Market campaign – the UK’s biggest celebration of local markets.
Love Your Local Market is a worldwide campaign created and delivered in the UK by The National Association of British Markets.
This year’s campaign runs from Friday 15 May to Saturday 30 May 2026, celebrating the vital role markets play in communities.
This year’s campaign is built around the message “Make it a Market Day for YOUR MARKET – Proudly Local.”
In Wrexham, The Butchers’ Market, General Market and Tŷ Pawb will all be joining the campaign, helping to shine a spotlight on the unique role markets play in supporting local businesses, nurturing new ideas and bringing communities together.
You can follow Wrexham Markets and Ty Pawb and to see special content showcasing our local businesses throughout the campaign, from Friday 15th May to Saturday 30th May.

Cllr Nigel Williams, Lead Member for Economy, Business and Tourism, said: “Wrexham has rich market heritage with the Butcher’s Market dating back to 1848 and the General Market, opened in 1878, plus a more recent market which has been incorporated into a multi-award winning arts venue at Tŷ Pawb. Our outdoor Monday Market also continues to take place every week. The markets continue to provide a vital city centre space for independent local traders, and an affordable home for brand new businesses to launch. Love Your Local Market is a chance to shine a spotlight on these businesses and remind people just how much markets contribute to the local economy and community. The campaign will be in ideal to come and explore our markets and support the wonderful variety of businesses who have chosen Wrexham as their home.”
Cllr Hugh Jones, Lead Member for Planning and Public Protection, said: “We are delighted to once again be taking part in the national Love Your Local Markets campaign. Last year we were able to showcase some excellent examples of businesses who have used Tŷ Pawb as a ‘springboard’. This includes traders who started in small units and have built up their business and their audience, allowing them to thrive, expand and move into bigger premises, supporting Wrexham’s economy and continuing to making the city a unique and attractive shopping destination.”
Whether you’re a regular shopper, visiting for the first time, or thinking about becoming a market trader yourself, you can find all the information on the Wrexham Markets and Tŷ Pawb websites.
