World-class tennis will return to Wrexham next month as the Lexus Wrexham Open gets ready for its second year in the city.
The prestigious women’s tournament will take place at Wrexham Tennis & Padel Centre from Sunday, October 18 to Sunday, October 25, bringing leading British and international players to North Wales as part of the ITF World Tennis Tour.
Following the success of its first year in Wrexham, the tournament returns with players competing for vital world ranking points and a $100,000 prize.
Last year’s event proved a huge success, becoming the best-attended indoor ITF W100 event worldwide.
More than 60,000 hours of tennis were watched through BBC iPlayer, with Welsh rising star Mimi Xu providing a memorable finish to the week by winning both the singles and doubles titles.
The success of the inaugural Wrexham tournament was also recognised by the International Tennis Federation through its Tournament Recognition Programme – an achievement described by organisers as particularly unusual for an event in its first year.
This year, spectators can once again enjoy a full week of indoor tennis, with qualifying beginning on Sunday, October 18 before the singles and doubles competitions build towards finals weekend on October 24-25.
Away from the court, the tournament will once again offer much more than tennis, with food, hospitality, live entertainment, business events and community activities taking place throughout the week.
A new food zone will also form part of this years tournament experience.

Wrexham is one of only 33 cities worldwide to host a tournament at this level, with all matches taking place indoors at the Wrexham Tennis & Padel Centre.
Tickets are available now, with qualifying tickets starting from £8 for adults and £4 for under 16’s, while a tournament pass providing access to matches throughout the week is available for £75 for adults and £57 for under 16’s.
