Occupational Therapy Week is just around the corner and this year’s theme is “Participation Changes Everything”.

Content
  • Open to all
  • Lots to discover
  • Wide range of experts
  • Working together

The week is designed to raise awareness of the work that goes on within the social services teams. Here in Wrexham, we will be taking part to showcase what our OT team deliver to their community.

An informational event will be held during the week to promote the range of services that help people remain independent, connected, and engaged in the activities that matter most to them.

Taking place on Thursday November 5, 9.30 am till 12.30 pm at the Wellbeing Hub in Wrexham, people are being encouraged to drop in and see what our team has to offer.

Open to all

This is an open event where all are welcome from carers, service users and family members to staff and members of the public.

Anybody looking to find out more about the local support and services that are on offer can come along and find out more.

This event is free to attend and there is no advanced booking required, just drop in during the opening times and take part.

Lots to discover

There is a wide variety of topics to learn more about, including:

•            Staying independent at home

•            Grants and adaptations

•            Support for carers

•            Equipment and assistive technology

•            Community resources and wellbeing services

•            Support available across the lifespan, from children and families through to older adults and people living with long-term conditions

Wide range of experts

The Wellbeing Hub will be full of information stalls manned by our dedicated members of staff who will be more than happy to share information with those who visit the event.

In addition to our team, we have worked with our partner organisations to join us to also promote the work they help us deliver for the service users in our community. Organisations in attendance include:

•            Housing – looking at adaptations and DFG process

•            NEWCIS – carer support and information

•            Fire Service – looking at safety aids for fire risks

•            Visual Impairment Team

•            Family Information Service

•            Progression team

Working together

The main message that our team want to promote is that our Occupational Therapy team and partner organisations are here for those who need their help.

They are ready and waiting to help people participate in the activities, roles and relationships that give life meaning and purpose.

Together, with a strong support network, they will endeavour to maintain a high standard of care and a support network for our service users.

Speaking on the upcoming event, Councillor Beverley Parry-Jones, Lead Member for Adult Social Care, Health and Wellbeing said “We have a dedicated team here in Wrexham ready to support those who need help to live as independently as possible.

“It is important that we have informational events such as this to remind people that our Occupational Therapy team are here and have so many services to offer to the community.

“I encourage everybody to take a moment to come along and find out just how much there is available through our social services. It is a marvellous opportunity to find out about the work that goes on.

“I would also like to thank all our staff and partner organisations for the continued work and support. They make a huge difference to so many people and they are a very important part of our council”.
