Last week a girls football tournament was held at Queensway Stadium for local primary schools.

The event was organised by the Active Wrexham Active Young People Team and the Wrexham Football Club Racecourse Community Foundation (RCF) as part of the Foundation’s Premier League Primary Stars Project.

Over 100 girls from 11 primary schools; Acrefair, All Saints Gresford, Borras, Bryn Tabor, Cefn Mawr, Cynddelw, Deiniol, Hafod Y Wern, Maes Y Llan, Penycae & Plas Coch took part in the tournament with 13 teams entering in total.

HAVE YOUR SAY ON THE FUTURE OF HOUSING IN WREXHAM.

Robert Darlington, Active Young People Officer from Active Wrexham, said: “One of Sport Wales’ main aims in terms of tackling inequality is to encourage and empower more women and girls to get active and stay active, so our team works hard to try to provide more opportunities for more girls across Wrexham get into sport and physical activity. Part of making that happen is ensuring the sporting talents of girls are recognised, encouraged and fostered.”

The eventual winners were Maes Y Llan beating Plas Coch in the final on a very wet but fun and enjoyable day.

As finalists, pupils from both Maes Y Llan & Plas Coch were invited to watch Wrexham AFC’s final home game of the season against AFC Fylde & also took part in a game on the pitch during half time.

Tell us how we should meet the housing challenges of the next five years.
