Our consultation regarding the reintroduction of parking charges within council operated city centre car parks from April 1, 2024 is open, so if you want to have your say on the proposals now is your opportunity to do so.
Currently all council run car parks in the city centre except Tŷ Pawb are free to use after 11am. This was set up to support key workers and city centre businesses both during and after the coronavirus pandemic.
We are now in a position where we are having to revisit this as we look to find savings and efficiencies to deal with a budget shortfall of £22.6m next year. It’s proposed that charges for parking after 11am will come into effect from April 1, 2024.
This statutory consultation will run from February 9, 2024 until March 8, 2024.
Cllr Mark Pritchard, Leader of Wrexham Council, said: “We’re continuing to look at lots of different ideas and opportunities that will help us to find savings, and the reintroduction of car parking charges from April 1 is regretfully something we’ve had to look at. We’re committed to supporting shoppers, visitors and businesses by keeping these charges fair and we welcome everyone to take part in our consultation on this.”
