We’re looking for a special individual to be our Climate Change and Carbon Reduction Manager to lead on our delivery and further development of our strategy and plans to be carbon neutral by 2030.

An extremely ambitious deadline but one we’re committed to achieving.

The successful applicant will be knowledgeable and able to motivate others by providing programme management and strategic leadership across the Council, ensuring the delivery of sustainable and innovative projects with key partners and stakeholders.

Book your Covid-19 vaccination appointment online.

You’ll work closely with elected members, senior leadership team and officers in all services to ensure that our commitment to decarbonisation is embedded in everything we do.

Cllr David A Bithell, Lead Member for Environment and Transport and Climate Champion, said, “We want to make a difference and this is a key role which requires a committed and motivated individual to drive our plans forward in order to achieve our targets.

“It’s also an exciting opportunity to work in a role that can achieve change that will benefit not only Wrexham but the whole of Wales and a lot further afield.

“Globally climate change is on our news feeds every day and this is a perfect opportunity for the right person to make a difference.”

Closing date for applications is 08.08.21.

Living in Wrexham

Wrexham has a lot going for it. We have some amazing country parks (one of which contains our stunning World Heritage Site – Pontcysyllte Aqueduct and Canal) , a rich and proud history, and some of the most honest and hardworking people you could wish to meet.

We’ve got Tŷ Pawb, our cultural community resource, which brings together arts and markets within the same footprint.

We also have a university, one of the best further education colleges in the UK, and we’re home to some of Britain’s most successful businesses.

With the Hollywood investment in Wrexham AFC, our local football club, courtesy of Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, it’s a really exciting time for Wrexham.

And not only are we handily positioned to cities like Chester, Liverpool and Manchester, but we’re also only a stones-throw from some of the UK’s most beautiful beaches as well.

Don’t believe what you read. Working in the public sector can be really rewarding…and it definitely isn’t boring. Plus you’ll get access to a good pension scheme, generous leave allowance, flexible working (great for balancing work and home life) and other employee benefits.

Booking a Covid-19 vaccine appointment is now easier than ever.
