If you like puzzles and challenges, science and engineering, and experiments then Wrexham Museum’s summer exhibition will appeal to you.
Wrexham Museum is hosting Ancient Wisdom, a ‘hands-on’ exhibition for adults and children on the technological achievements of the ancient world. Those Ancient Egyptians, Romans, Greeks, Sumerians and Babylonians had some great thinkers and inventors and in this exhibition you will be able to try out their inventions for yourself.

The exhibition’s interactives include: Archimedes’ Screw, catapults; siege engines, aqueducts and arches, Roman signals, Egyptian locks and many more challenges. The exhibition is designed for families with children, but adults can just as easily enjoy the activities.
The exhibition opens on Saturday, July 22 and admission is free. The show is on until September 2.
“Very hands-on event”
Cllr Hugh Jones, Lead Member for Communities, Partnerships, Public Protection and Community Safety, said: “This will be a very engaging event for all those families looking to keep their children active during the summer holidays.
“The inventions and technologies of ancient civilisations are incredibly interesting and this will be a very hands-on event where children will have the chance to have a go at testing those technologies for themselves.”
If you would like to be a ‘gallery hero’ while the exhibition is on, welcoming visitors and helping those who find some of the practical experiments a bit challenging, please email museumvolunteers@wrexham.gov.uk before July 28.
