Erthygl Gwadd/Guest article – Menter Iaith fflint a Wrecsam
The annual St David’s Day Parade in Wrexham has been one of the highlights of the year for a long time, and the celebrations are back once again for 2025!
This year, Menter Iaith Fflint a Wrecsam, in partnership with Wrexham County Borough Council, have organised a fun-filled day of celebration on Saturday, March 1st, 2025. Here’s an invitation to children and young people, families, friends, organisations, businesses, and indeed the whole community to come and celebrate the occasion.
The parade will assemble outside the Guildhall (Llwyn Isaf) at 10:45am before starting at 11:00am (sharp!), under the leadership of Band Cambria, making its way through the town and ending back at Llwyn Isaf where everyone will sing the National Anthem and Calon Lân together, led by Andy Hickie.
There will also be an opportunity this year to enjoy the monthly market on Queen’s Square, to join in a family craft session at Tŷ Pawb in the afternoon and help raise money for the Eisteddfod.
The Mayor Cllr. Beryl Blackmore said: “The Dydd Gŵyl Dewi Parade in Wrecsam is one of the most colourful event of the year. It’s a fantastic opportunity to hear people talking and singing in Cymraeg together and engaging in our culture. There’s always a fantastic buzz and pride in Wales and Wrecsam on display, so grab your flags, put on your daffs and join in this March 1st.”
A warm welcome to all.
These celebrations are part of a series of events taking place across Wales to celebrate our Patron Saint. We encourage everyone to use the hashtag #DewiWrecsam on social media to share photos, information, and stories from the event throughout the day.
