Back in March we launched the Green Infrastructure Project which included the planting of a wildflower meadow in Caia Park.

You can see from the picture above just how well it’s coming along.

This is what it looked like in March and June:

We’re sure you agree it now looks blooming great 🙂

HOW TO GET A TEST IF YOU’VE GOT CORONAVIRUS SYMPTOMS

The Green Infrastructure Project aims to work with communities to provide environmental improvements on local green spaces throughout Wrexham that benefits nature and people. Work has also taken place at Alyn Waters where a tree planting has also taken place.

Jacinta Challinor, Green Infrastructure Officer, said: “During lockdown we’ve had to postpone a lot of the exciting activities that were planned but we’re looking at how we can get back up and running – albeit differently. In the meantime work that has already taken place is beginning to make a difference to the environment and I hope those who visit the area really appreciate the transformation that has taken place. Not only is it pleasant to look at but it’s helping improve the ecology of the area and it’s now seeing lots of thriving insects including butterflies visiting the site.”

Cllr David A Bithell, Lead Member for the Environment and Transport, said: “It’s great to see these projects really taking off and will be welcome by visitors to the area who can now benefit from the improved environment whilst taking comfort from the knowledge that our rich and diverse animal and insect life is able to thrive and breed. Well done to everyone concerned and good luck for the future.”
