Back in July, in celebration of recent club successes and the positivity Wrexham AFC has brought to the city, a floral Wrexham AFC crest was planted on St Giles Way. The crest was also part of our Wales in Bloom competition entry.

Since then the floral crest has become a colourful new landmark and a must visit spot for locals and tourists alike. It has seen countless visits from local pollinators, as well as selfie hunters and very recently we had a visit from a special guest from the club.

Wrexham AFC

On visiting the display Wrexham AFC CEO Michael Williamson said “Congratulations, llongyfarchiadau, to all involved. “The floral club crest looks great, and we’re proud to be associated with this wonderful greenspace project. “We’re looking forward to continuing to work with the Wrexham 2029 City of Culture bid and the Wrexham Council to help the community of Wrexham grow.”

City of Culture sponsorship

The Floral display was sponsored by Wrexham 2029 City of Culture bid, Culture Bid Director Amanda Davies  said “The bid team were very happy in being able to sponsor the planting of the floral Wrexham AFC club crest. “We’re excited to share the creative and visual plans that we have for the 2029 bid in the near future. “It was fantastic to have club involvement with the 2029 bid at this early stage.”

Cllr Hugh Jones, who has the City of Culture bid in his portfolio said “Our UK City of Culture 2029 bid activities will be ramping up over the next few months, with the bid team continuing their ongoing work with existing contacts as well as increasing connections with community organisations and individuals in the near future – as we look towards opportunities and expressions of interest in supporting our ambitious Wrexham 2029 bid.”
