The Hand Hotel in Chirk – one of Wrexham’s most iconic historic landmarks dates back to the early 1600s – is under new ownership.

TLC Holdings Group Ltd recently acquired the hotel, which is situated just a stone’s throw from Chirk Castle and the Llangollen Canal, the 14-room hotel is steeped in history and has long been a popular destination for visitors exploring the Welsh borderlands.

The new owners are keen to enhance The Hand Hotel’s offer to both tourists and the local community. Plans include internal refurbishments, sustainability upgrades, and new visitor experiences – including potential partnerships with local attractions and suppliers.

Lead Member for Economy, Business and Tourism, Cllr Nigel Williams, recently visited the Grade II-listed property to meet with the new team and hear more about their investment plans. He said: “I was pleased to meet the new owners of The Hand Hotel and to find out what they have got planned for the hotel. It’s one of the oldest hotels in north-east Wales and is popular with locals and tourists so I am pleased to hear that they intend to continue to upgrade, grow the business and increase its role in Wrexham’s tourism offer.”

David Kamau, Director, of TLC Holdings Group Ltd, said: “It was a pleasure to welcome Cllr Nigel Williams to The Hand Hotel and share our plans for this exciting new chapter. While the hotel is proudly based in Chirk, we share a broader vision of contributing to Wrexham’s growing tourism economy. Our aim is to ensure The Hand becomes a key destination for visitors across the region — blending heritage, hospitality, and community. At TLC Holdings Group Ltd, we’re excited to invest in Wrexham and play our part in shaping its next chapter”
