Wrexham Council has successfully applied to the High Court of Justice, Queens Bench Division, Wrexham District Registry for an interim injunction to protect land and woodland areas at Bowers Road, Acrefair.

Over recent months residents and council officers have been increasingly concerned about the destruction and works going on at this site and took the unusual steps of applying for the Order.

Cllr David Kelly, Lead Member for Planning and Corporate Services said: “Applying to the courts for such an order is very unusual for us and one we didn’t undertake lightly but, as a final resort. After several notices to cease work and restore the area were ignored we felt we were left with no alternatives.

“I would like to thank the council officers concerned with this case for their commitment to the environment and to responding to the concerns of residents. We now hope the injunction will serve its purpose and that works to this site is stopped and efforts made to rectify the damage caused.”
