Better Transport Week is an annual, week-long celebration of sustainable transport, and this year it takes place from 17 to 23 June.
Sustainable transport does some amazing things, including:
- It shrinks traffic jams
- It cleans up our air and tackles climate change
- It improves our health and boosts our economy
- It connects us to the things that matter
Cllr David A Bithell, Deputy Leader and Climate Champion, said: “If you choose to travel sustainably you will be contributing to reducing noise pollution, air pollution and carbon emissions, and you will be making a difference against the climate emergency.”
Whether you’re a bus user, a rail passenger, whether you walk or wheel, cycle or car-share…if you care about transport, Better Transport Week is for you!
If you want to support the week, there are a number of ways you can get involved – you could…
- Organise an event. This could be in your work, school or community group. Maybe set a challenge to see who can be the most sustainable traveller in your team?
- Try using sustainable transport. Think about using a more sustainable method of transport for travelling to work, school or for leisure, shopping and to other activities.
- Spread the word. Tell your friends and family about Better Transport Week and use the hashtag #bettertransportweek
