Do you want to vote in this year’s PCC election on May 2, 2024, but worry that you may not be able to access the polling station?
Did you know that every polling station has measures in place to make sure that everyone who has the legal right to vote – whether they have a disability or not – finds voting easily accessible? There are also election staff on hand throughout polling day to help.
Here is a list of measures that are in place at all Wrexham Council polling stations:
- low-level disabled polling booths, suitable for use with a wheelchair
- every polling station will have large print notices of ballot papers. (These can be used as reference, but you must still cast your vote on a standard print ballot paper as required by law)
- tactile devices will be available to enable blind or visually impaired voters to vote without assistance; please ask staff at the polling station about this device
- if you use the tactile device but need help, you will be able to ask the presiding officer (the person in charge of the polling station). They are legally bound by the Requirement for Secrecy so your vote will remain private
- pencil grips are available for voters with dexterity impairments to more easily hold, and use, a pencil independently
If you need any help at all, polling staff will be wearing badges so they can easily be identified.
If you, or someone you know, needs help to register or to vote, please contact the elections team on 01978 292020.
