"This diverse and loving family we've created is everything to us. We are so grateful for this journey." Kate and Lisa, Wrexham Foster Carers

When love knows no boundaries, it has the power to create something truly beautiful. This is precisely what Kate and Lisa, an inspiring LGBTQ couple, have achieved through their incredible journey as foster carers in North Wales. In their embrace of diversity and unwavering dedication, they have created a loving family that defies norms and spreads compassion.

In their own words, here’s their heart-warming story…

“Two years ago, our foster children came into our lives, and they’ve become a permanent part of our family. We feel incredibly fortunate to have them and to be able to provide them a loving home. We also have our two biological children, so our household is always buzzing with activity. It’s become our new normal, and we wouldn’t have it any other way.

“Watching all of our children grow and gain confidence has been truly heart-warming. The bond they share and the kindness they show towards each other is beyond words.

“Our children have taught us so much about resilience and the beauty of simple joys. Our foster children, in particular, have learned to embrace playfulness and explore the world around them. We’ll never forget the first time they went to the beach. They were scared of the sand scratching their legs, but just last week, we saw them run into the sea fully clothed, laughing with pure delight. It was such a rewarding moment for us.

“Throughout this journey, we’ve received incredible support from our social work team. They’ve been there for us every step of the way. We’ve also passionately advocated for our children within their schools, ensuring they get the best possible care and education. We’ve taken numerous courses to equip ourselves with the skills needed to meet their special needs.

“Fostering has been quite a ride for us, filled with ups and downs. It has been an absolutely amazing experience, even though it turned out to be different from what we initially imagined. We’ve had to learn so much along the way, and it’s been a real eye-opener.

“We’re filled with excitement as we look ahead to the future and continue to support our children on their unique paths. This diverse and loving family we’ve created is everything to us. We are so grateful for this journey.”
