We’re delighted to announce the official launch of our brand-new mobile youth provision, ‘The Base’ is taking place on Tuesday 17th February at 11am at Eagles Meadow.

In April last year, Wrexham Youth Service successfully secured Shared Prosperity Funding to support an ambitious project aimed at strengthening youth engagement across the county.

This funding has enabled the purchase and full conversion of a van into a fully equipped mobile youth club, designed to meet young people where they are, right in the heart of their own communities.

The Base has been created to enable engagement with young people, including those who may be harder to reach, and to provide a positive presence in areas experiencing anti-social behaviour. By offering support, activities, and early intervention, the provision aims to reduce incidents of anti-social behaviour and build stronger relationships between young people, families, and local services.

The development of The Base has been a significant undertaking, brought to life through the hard work and collaboration of staff across Prevention and Support Services, local partners, and the young people themselves. Young people from across Wrexham chose the name The Base, contributed to the design of the exterior, and worked alongside a local graffiti artist to bring their vision to life. All conversion work has been completed by a local firm, ensuring the project is rooted firmly in the community it serves.

Leader member for Education Cllr Phil Wynn said “We’re extremely proud of the work done on this project so far and hope that The Base will be able to provide a much welcomed provision in our communities for many years to come.

“The launch event will offer children, young people, families, and partners the opportunity to explore our exciting new provision as well as meet staff, and engage with a range of services dedicated to supporting young people in Wrexham.

“Inside The Base, visitors will find a welcoming space offering activities, interventions, and information about the wide range of support available.”
