It’s creeping up on us again… The same questions playing over and over in our heads… “What are we going to do with them for six weeks?” or “How can we possibly keep them entertained?”

The place to be…And if you’re feeling confident…

Well the solution is right here on your doorstep but the chances are you’ve probably forgotten some of the many fun things we can do in Wrexham with our kids.
Here’s one of them…

Remember those things with a metal frame, two wheels, a seat, a handlebar and rubber tyres? Bikes? You know, the ones going rusty in your shed? Well, dust them off and get out and see some of the fantastic scenery Wrexham has to offer.

The place to be…

Ok, you’ve dusted them off. Dad, mum and kids are all on bikes. Tyres pumped up and helmets on. But where do you go now?

Clearly, Alyn Waters Country Park is the place to be for families this summer holidays with a variety of paths for cyclists to enjoy. Starting at the visitor centre there is a two mile cycleway and sculpture trail which offers safe off road cycling for families.

And not only does it keep everyone entertained but cycling is a low impact form of exercise and an ideal way to improve and maintain your strength and fitness levels. So get out in the fresh air and bask in what nature has to offer.

The park also caters for children and adults with a variety of disabilities through the Pedal Power Project. The project is managed by Groundwork North Wales and they use a range of bikes around a one-mile circuit. To book a place call Pedal Power on 01978 757524.

And if you’re feeling confident…

X-up? Indian air? Turndown?… Ok, how about a 360?

If any of the above makes any sense to you, you probably know your way around a BMX bike. And even if these tricks are totally alien to you, everybody has to start somewhere… so give it a blast this summer!

Ponciau Banks has its own BMX track and people love it. It’s open to the public all year round, so have a go… you’re sure to be in for a wheelie good time!
