There can’t be many better things than heading out with the family on a glorious, sunny weekend.
You have a basket full of food, drinks and ice creams to enjoy. You lay a blanket down and set up camp for the day. You’re surrounded by the beauty of one of Wrexham’s many parks. It’s great, it’s stunning and these are memories you can cherish.
But what about next weekend? Do you really want to see wrappers, plastic bottles, cans and disposable barbecues carelessly strewn about your favourite spot?

This week, we took a walk along some popular routes around Wrexham, and unfortunately were greeted with a selection of litter, with much of it in the most picturesque spots.
We recently published an article on fly tipping and this is no different. In this case, it may not be a mattress or a fridge freezer that’s being dumped, but it’s littering an unspoilt area and it won’t be so pretty when you come back next time.
Some of the above images were within 40 metres of a litter bin. It may be a good idea to research where the bins are positioned in your favourite parks before you set out.
Also, most people take their picnics in a bag of some form, so a good tip is to keep another bag inside it specifically for rubbish. Then when the time comes for you to leave you can just transfer the waste to the other bag and take it home with you.
We can all be a bit careless sometimes, but with more sizzling weather on the way it’s a good idea to prepare ourselves in advance so our beautiful spaces can stay just that… beautiful.
