Autumn has arrived – the leaves are turning, routines are back in full swing, and it’s the perfect time to reset our habits. That’s why Wrexham Council is teaming up with Wales Recycles to encourage our visitors to think before they throw – whether you’re at our site or out and about across Wales.

Wales is already doing brilliantly as the second-best recycler in the world – just behind Austria – but we’re not stopping there. With your help, we can power our way to number one.

And thanks to the new workplace recycling law (April 2024), it’s easier than ever to recycle when you’re on the go. You’ll see recycling bins when you’re out and about visiting council-owned, indoor venues. So before you bin anything, take a second to check the signs and pop it in the right place. It’s a one-second habit that makes a mighty difference.

What bins you can recycle on site:

  • Plastic bottles, drinks cans & cartons
  • Glass
  • Food
  • Paper/card
  • General waste

Why it matters – every item counts

Every time you recycle, you’re not just keeping rubbish out of the bin – you’re saving energy, resources, and brings us one step closer to the top spot.

Did you know?

  • Recycling metal and glass uses 95% less energy than making it from raw materials – and it can be recycled endlessly without losing quality. Don’t let that foil, drinks can or bottle go to waste!
  • Just one recycled can saves enough energy to power a TV for 2 hours.

Let’s power Wales to No.1

Food waste is one of the biggest ways we can all make a difference. By using up the food you buy – and recycling what can’t be eaten – you’ll help cut waste.

Why not put your skills to the test?

Take the Smart Food Challenge with Wales Recycles, discover simple recipes to save time and money, and be in with a chance of winning a delicious Welsh prize.

So whether you’re enjoying a day out at our site, heading to an event, or in the office – remember, think before you throw. Together, we can make Wales the best recycler in the world. Let’s do this!

When are my bins collected? Check your bin day and sign up for reminders.
