Return of Bus Services to Newbridge, Pentre and Whitehurst

Wrexham County Borough Council have announced that bus services will return to Newbridge, Pentre and Whitehurst from Sunday 16th November 2025.

Since 2021, when the road was closed due to damage caused by Storm Christoph, bus services between Wrexham and Oswestry have been forced to divert along the A483 between Ruabon and Chirk.

Councillor David A Bithell, Deputy Leader of the Council and Lead Member for Housing and Climate Change, said “I am pleased to be able to announce the return of bus services to the Newbridge area earlier than planned, following positive discussions with Arriva and the Traffic Commissioner’s office.  We are aware of local people’s needs to reinstate bus services and see this as a positive step following the re-opening of B5605 through Newbridge.

“I would like to thank Arriva North West & Wales, who have assisted in making this possible within their operations.  There has been a lot of ongoing work in the background”.

Adam Marshall, Area Head of Commercial Arriva North West & Wales, added “We are always pleased to be able to introduce bus services into areas where there is a gap in provision.  Although these circumstances are slightly different, it is no less important to be able to put back services 2 & 2A between Wrexham and Oswestry onto their original route through Newbridge.  I would also like to thank Wrexham Council for their support in making it possible to implement this change sooner than we had originally anticipated”.
