A new community garden is being set up at the old school playing fields in Rhos (LL14 1LR), funded by the Shared Prosperity Fund, and we’re looking for people to get involved! A community garden is a shared space where local residents can gather to grow vegetables, flowers, and other plants. It’s a place to learn new skills, enjoy the outdoors, and connect with your neighbours. Everyone is welcome, no matter how much or how little time you can spare.
We need volunteers to help with all aspects of getting the garden up and running. There are a few key voluntary roles we’re looking to fill, including:
- Garden Coordinator: Keeping things running smoothly.
- Admin support: Helping with paperwork and organising activities.
- Volunteer coordinator: Supporting and managing our volunteers.
- Fundraiser: Helping secure funding and donations.
- Comms support: Sharing what’s going on
- Gardeners: Digging, weeding, planting and sowing seeds
If you’re interested in helping or learning more, please drop by Rhos Community Café on Thursdays between 2 pm and 4 pm for an informal chat or email us at decarbonisation@wrexham.gov.uk. We’d love to hear from you!
*An earlier version of this post stated incorrectly that the meeting was every Wednesday – it is in fact every Thursday.
