Even though he is mighty busy this time of year, Santa cleared some room in his schedule to pay a visit to two local primary schools. During his visit, he gave the pupils a festive feast along with some early Christmas gifts.
He couldn’t make this happen alone, however. With the help of one of his elves and the team at Castell Howell Foods, the young learners were treated to a seasonal surprise.
Fresh local produce
The Wrexham School Meals team aim to use Welsh produce and suppliers wherever possible, as prioritised by Welsh Government and Wrexham Council.
Castell Howell Foods are a Welsh supplier who sourced and delivered all our turkey, vegetables and traditional accompaniments for the Christmas lunches served to pupils throughout the county this year.
The festive feast was prepped and served by our wonderfully talented and committed school cooks and assistants across the authority.
Spreading festive joy
The team at Castell Howell Foods have a direct line to the North Pole. This year, they made a call to Santa to ask if he’d like to spread some joy in Wrexham with them.
Hopping into their Christmas themed Santa truck loaded with their bounty of food, the team plotted their course to two local primary schools for a surprise visit.
Pupils at Ysgol Bro Alun and Ysgol Penygelli were amazed to see St. Nick arriving at their school. Santa and his elf helper greeted the children at both schools and gave them all a gift. A wonderful time was had by all.
Angharad Tuovinen, contracts manager at Castell Howell Foods said “It was really lovely to meet the pupils at Ysgol Bro Alun and Ysgol Penygelli. They certainly know how to spread Christmas joy in their community. It was a pleasure to provide them with their Christmas lunches this year and hope they all enjoyed them. Thank you very much to our jolly friend Santa for helping us make our delivery and for making time to meet all the children”.
Speaking on the news of the recent festive visit, Councillor Phil Wynn, Lead Member for Education said “It was delightful to hear of the recent visit from Father Christmas to two of our wonderful primary schools. We all know how busy he is this time of year so it just shows how good our pupils must be for him to manage to fit in a visit to them. A big, big thank you to his friends at Castell Howell Foods for helping arrange his visit and for providing the outstanding, high quality Christmas lunches to our young learners across the authority”.
