Here in Wrexham, we are fortunate to have dedicated library services teams across our communities. They aim to deliver a great range of events and activities for all interests and hobbies.
Today, we’ll take a look at what our team over in the Rhos library have in store for you when you next pay them a visit.
For the younger visitors
Every Wednesday, 3 – 4 pm, Rhos library hosts the Lego Club.
These sessions help children learn various soft skills that will teach them how to work and interact with others. Through a fun way of learning, children can develop creative thinking, teamwork, communication, conflict resolution and problem-solving skills.
Sessions are suitable for ages 4+ and are free to attend. There’s no booking required, just turn up and get involved.
There is also a fun, friendly and interactive session for parents or carers and their babies. Every Friday at 10.30 until 11 am, you can come along and join the Stori a Chân session.
This is a bilingual Story and Rhyme group event. Welsh speakers and learners, as well as families new to Welsh, are all very welcome. If you don’t speak any Welsh yourself don’t worry, you’ll soon become familiar with simple Welsh phrases.
It’s free to attend and there is no need for advanced booking.
Better when we’re together
Nothing beats a cuppa and a chat with good company. Every Friday, 2 – 3 pm, visitors can come along to the Friendship Group.
You can meet new friends and chat about matters that are important to you. Feel free to bring along a craft project, a book, a quiz – or just yourself.
It’s free to attend, refreshments are provided and everyone is welcome.
Another great opportunity to make new friends is at the Reminisce/Time to Remember sessions. These are held on the third Friday of each month, 11 am – 12 pm.
Here, visitors can share their memories, reminisce with books and try out new activities with others. Individuals, families and carers are all welcome.
The sessions are free with refreshments available.
Art and literature activities
Each week, the Adult Art Group meet on Fridays between 12.30 and 3 pm. Every session sees a new project for the group using many different mediums.
Spaces are limited for this event and booking is essential to avoid missing out. You can email the community agents team for more information and to book your place at rhoscommunityagent@gmail.com.
If you like reading and chatting about books, there is the perfect group for you. On the first Wednesday of each month, 2.30 – 3.30 pm, the Reading Group meet up to bring like-minded book worms together.
Community support and help
Community agents work with anyone over 50 and living in Wrexham to support them in making informed choices about present and future needs.
They can help you feel more independent, secure and cared for, and to have a better quality of life.
Michele is the community agent for the Rhos and Johnstown area. She holds informal drop in sessions every Monday, 10.30 am – 12 pm. Feel free to come along for a chat with her about any queries you may have. There is no need to make an appointment.
