We have some great new apprenticeship placements at Wrexham Council across a range of services.

If you’re leaving full-time education and looking to take your first career steps, these apprenticeships are a great place to start.

You’ll get valuable work experience, pick up lots of life-skills, study for qualifications and earn a wage.

Having the right attitude, values and work ethic is more important to us than your qualifications, so if you want to work hard, lay the foundations for a good career and serve the people of Wrexham, then please apply…we want to hear from you!

We have two exciting schemes for you to choose from…

Environment Traineeship

This is a two-year scheme based in our Environment department – combining both office and on-site work.

We’ll help you learn new skills and build your confidence, providing a mix of office and on-site work across lots of areas, including waste and recycling, highways, engineering, transport, carbon reduction, street works, open spaces and street lighting.

A traineeship is a genuine job, where you earn a wage from day one, and you’ll be assigned a mentor to look after you and help you get the most from every day.

If you’re taking your first career steps this could be a great opportunity, but don’t just take our word for it…

Niamh joined the scheme last year and this is what she has to say:

“People should apply because it’s different. The stereotypical thing to do is to go to college and then university, but I think having this experience and opportunity is good for people who don’t know what they want to do when they’re older.

“And it’s just a nice experience – a chance to get work experience and life skills.”

Corporate Apprenticeship

Our Corporate Apprenticeship is a two-year placement supported by Coleg Cambria, where you get to try a range of jobs working with experienced people.

We have opportunities across several departments:

  • Education & Early Intervention Services
  • Finance & ICT
  • Housing
  • Economy & Planning

As well as earning a wage, you’ll get the option to study towards a job-related qualification.

We’re also holding a number of drop-in sessions at local libraries, where you can learn more about both schemes. Pop in and see us!
