Regular and past users, local members, staff and business tenants all came together to celebrate what Llay Park Resource Centre has done for the community over the last 20 years.
The evening was spend sharing memories about what the centre has offered over the last two decades, including past learner Peter Jones who came along to a sugar craft session and went on to make a business out of making celebration cakes and has recently retired.
Cllr Beverley Parry-Jones, lead member for libraries and resource centres, said: “It was lovely to hear the stories from the centres users at this event. I was so impressed by displays of work by learners on the Adult Learning Wales courses that are run from the centre, in particular a full lady’s period costume that was hand-made at one of the classes. Well done to all involved in making this a wonderful evening of celebration.”
Sarah Smallwood-Smith, centre support worker at Llay Park Resource Centre, said: “I would like to thank everyone for their help and support in making this such a fantastic evening, it truly showcased what the centre offers and represents to the community.”
A raffle was also held on the night, and raised £200 for Nightingale House Hospice.
