Thousands turn out for Wales Comic Con

Once again Wales Comic Con got the big thumbs up from con-goers across the UK and further afield as thousands descended on the Wrexham Glyndŵr University campus for the first event of 2019.

It was brollies and boots at the ready on Saturday as Storm Hannah ran its course but fans braved lashing rain and howling winds to see their favourite stars from the world of modern pop culture – Sunday was a little calmer! 🙂

ARTS, MARKETS, COMMUNITY EVENTS – GET NEWS FROM TŶ PAWB STRAIGHT TO YOUR INBOX.

The guest list had popular actors, writers and voiceover performers! It headlined Kiefer Sutherland of 24 and Designated Survivor; Sam Neil of Jurassic Park; Tenth Doctor David Tennant; Rupert Grint, who played Ron Weasley in the Harry Potter films; Ron Perlman of Hellboy fame; Liam Cunningham, Ser Davos Seaworth of Game of Thrones; Sam Claflin from The Hunger Games; Gotham star Sean Pertwee; Emmy Raver-Lampman from The Umbrella Academy…and the list went on! 🙂

The traders did a roaring trade selling licensed collectables, posters, photographs and memorabilia of all descriptions.

The gaming zone was packed on both days as old and young took turns in trying out the latest games and gadgetry on the market.

The Question and Answer sessions, always popular, were packed to hear from the stars of Sabrina, Gotham, Stargate, Lord of the Rings, Umbrella Academy, Hunger Games and the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Finally on Sunday came the Cosplay Masquerade when all the hard work of getting dressed for Comic Con paid off.

We’d like to thank the organisers for yet another great event, held here in Wrexham, which brings more than £1m annually into the regional economy.
