Wrexham is getting ready to celebrate St David’s Day with a full day of activity across the city centre, with the annual St David’s Day Parade sitting at the heart of a wider programme of music, markets, food, crafts and cultural events.

Annual St David’s Day Parade

The annual St David’s Day Parade will set off at 1.00pm, bringing colour, music and community spirit to the streets of Wrexham.

Parade participants will gather from 12.45pm outside the Guildhall before heading off on a route around the city centre. Community groups, organisations and residents are all encouraged to get involved or come along to show their support along the way.

St David’s Day Street Market

A special St David’s Day edition of Wrexham’s Monthly Street Market will run on Queen’s Square from 10.00am to 5.00pm.

Visitors can browse a mix of independent traders, local produce and street food, making it an easy place to stop before the parade, in between activities, or later in the afternoon.

Wrexfiesta

Queen’s Square will also host Wrexfiesta, a collaboration between Wrexfest and Afro Fiesta, bringing live music and DJ sets to the centre of the celebrations.

Live performances on Queen’s Square:

Rebecca Royal:11-11.40am

The Scene: 12-12.40pm

Panedeni: 2-2.40pm

Eve Goodman: 2.45-3.15pm

Morgan Elwy: 3.30-4.15pm

Afro Fiesta DJs will be playing throughout the day, keeping the energy up and giving people plenty of reasons to stay and enjoy the atmosphere.

St David’s Service and Bell Ringing at St Giles’ Church

Over in St Giles’ Church, a St David’s Day service will take place at 11.00am.

Following the service, the church bells will ring out at 12.40pm, offering a traditional moment that helps bring the city together just before the parade assembly.

Tŷ Pawb

Tŷ Pawb will be marking St David’s Day with drop-in activities from 11.00am to 4.00pm, including crafts and live music. It’s a relaxed, family-friendly space where people of all ages can get involved.

Chapter Court

Chapter Court will be celebrating from 10.00am to 4.00pm with a programme that includes Welsh food sampling and tasting sessions, cookery classes and more.

Part of Wrexham’s Year of Wonder, and Looking Towards 2029

Our St David’s Day celebrations are one of many events taking place as part of Wrexham’s Year of Wonder. Throughout the year, their programme will highlight the stories, creativity and industries that have shaped Wrexham over time, and the people and organisations driving it forward today.

These celebrations also support Wrexham’s bid to become UK City of Culture 2029, showing how the city champions major cultural moments like St David’s Day to bring communities together, support local talent and businesses, and welcome visitors into the city centre.
