Staff from the North Wales Adoption Service look set to complete a walk of the North Wales Coast path, raising awareness for adoption in Wales.

The walk started in September 2022 and the participants are set to complete the walk on October 18th 2023 – during adoption week (16th – 22nd October), having completed over 406 miles, with North Wales Adoption Service employed  staff members taking part.

As the North Wales Adoption team are based in Wrexham, the group will complete their journey in front of the Iconic Racecourse ground.

Other than a few blisters along the way and taking extra care during recent storms, the group say that the multi stage journey has been tough, but without issues.

The groups aim was to see the walk raise awareness of adoption, through the North Wales Adoption Service that covers all 6 of the North Wales Local Authorities. And also encourage anyone interested in adoption to contact them for an informal chat where they can share further information.

During National Adoption Week (16th – 22nd October) the National Adoption Service will be holding several Q&A virtual live sessions via TEAMS at the following times:

Monday 16th October7pm – 8pmEnglish speaking
Tuesday 17th October12 noon – 1pmWelsh speaking
Thursday 19th October12 noon – 1pmEnglish speaking

Please email adoption@wrexham.gov.uk  for more information and to book a free place.

North Wales Adoption Service team member Mihaela Bucutea said:

“It is a honour to be part of such a great service whose aim is to make a positive difference to the lives of children who cannot be nurtured and brought up by their own family. We hope that by taking up the challenge of walking the entire Wales Coastal Path that it has raised awareness of adoption services across North Wales, and I encourage anyone who may have questions, or is interested in adoption to get in touch with the team.”

The team of walkers are set to arrive at Wrexham Racecourse for around 11.30am on Wednesday 18th October.

For further information you can call the North Wales Adoption Service for free on 0800 0850774 or email adoption@wrexham.gov.uk
