From this Monday (April 19), you’ll be able to book a visit to Wrexham Library.

Libraries will still provide an ‘order and collect service’, but the recent easing of restrictions in Wales means we’re now ready to reopen the building on a limited basis.

By phoning 01978 292090 or emailing library@wrexham.gov.uk you’ll be able to book a 30-minute appointment to pop in and browse, borrow and return books.

If you do visit, follow these tips to help keep everyone safe:

  • Make sure you book in advance, and stick to your allocated time.
  • You can only visit by yourself or with another person from your household or support bubble.
  • Stick to social distancing, wear a face covering and use the hand sanitiser provided.
  • Make sure you’ve left the building by the time your 30 minutes is up.
  • If you have any symptoms, please don’t visit (even if you’ve booked) – self-isolate and arrange a test.

The library won’t be offering photocopying, scanning or access to public computers – you’ll only be able to browse, borrow and return books.

Make sure you know about changes to Covid-19 restrictions in Wales.

Phased re-opening

Welsh Government recently gave the green light for libraries to reopen, and the booking-system is part of a phased approach being taken in Wrexham.

Shân Cooper, who overseas the council’s library services, says:

“The booking system will help us manage visitors-numbers…so we can make sure there’s plenty of space to social distance.

“We want to reopen our libraries in the safest way possible, and if the system works well in Wrexham, we’ll roll it out to other libraries in the county borough next month (May).

“In the meantime, all of our libraries will continue to offer order and collect services, which have proved popular during the pandemic.”

To find out more about order and collect, and other online library services, visit the council’s website.
