We’re once more proud and pleased to be supporting Armed Forces Day (AFD)- albeit from our own homes again this year.

We’re now flying the Armed Forces Flag above our offices and we’re asking the public to also pay their respects to those who have served their country in order to keep us, our families and our communities safe.

Book your Covid-19 vaccination appointment online.

Cllr David Griffiths, Lead Member for Housing and our Armed Forces Champion, said, “This year, once again, we have a debt to pay our armed forces community. During the pandemic they have driven ambulances, manned testing and vaccination centres and have been away from their families in order to maintain our safety and security.

“I, along with my fellow councillors and colleagues, wish to say a huge thank you to them all.

To mark this year’s event the Home Office has commissioned a video for us to share with you. You can take a look at this below:

Hear from @wrexhamcbc Cllr David Griffiths, about his role as Armed Forces Champion and the work of the local Armed Forces Covenant.

“My privilege to be the Armed Forces Champion for Wrexham”

“It really is my privilege to be the Armed Forces Champion for Wrexham and I look forward to when we can show our support and respect in person and in style. Please join me in saluting our veterans, serving personnel and their families this year to show them our continued support.”

How can I take part this year?

There’s several ways you can show your support for our armed forces this year:

Salute our Forces

#SaluteOurForces is a simple way for anyone to pay tribute to the forces community for their hard work, dedication and efforts to and keep us safe in the UK and across the globe.

To join in, simply take a photo or video of yourself or your friends and colleagues saluting!

The AFD organisers would love to see  your photos and you can share them on twitter to @ArmedForcesDay using #SaluteOurForces, comment on one of their Facebook Posts or email direct to armedforcesdayuk@gmail.com.

Check out social media

Take the time to take a look at and share their social media posts. You can find them on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/armedforcesday/ or twitter: https://twitter.com/ArmedForcesDay

Give someone a call

If you know someone who has served or is currently serving in our armed services please take a few minutes to get in touch with them and thank them personally for their contribution.

Wrexham has once again been selected to host the Welsh Armed Forces Day which will take place on Saturday 25 June and, fingers crossed, we’ll once again be able to put on an event fitting for our armed forces and we’ll bring you news about this as soon as we’re able to.

Here’s a glimpse of what took place the last time we hosted the event in 2014:
