Digital Screens proposed to help businesses promote themselves

You may have seen recent reports about “digital screens” coming to Wrexham and many of you may wonder “why, what are they for?”

Well, as the city moves forward with its placemaking plans, we need to ensure that city centre businesses have the means and opportunities to promote themselves to our visitor base.

What makes digital screens different?

It’s recognised that 83% of people remember content they’ve seen on social media compared to reading a poster or advert. This is because digital screens are so visual they capture people’s attention.

They can be updated very quickly so people are aware of what’s going on and where. It may be a two for one at a coffee shop or a 10% discount off a meal for two.

The screens will support the promotion of local businesses.

Events can be included regularly and also updated if things change – something that can’t be done with a poster without the expense of re-doing it then having to take time to replace the out of date ones.

Cllr Nigel Williams, Lead Member for Economy and Regeneration, said, “There’s no doubt that Wrexham is on the up and with major events and festivals taking place local businesses need a place to promote themselves to those visiting the area many for the first time.

“Digital screens do have advantages over traditional advertising methods and will be free to use. With all this in mind we hope to progress the plans and see them in place as soon as possible.
