COUNCIL STATEMENT - Another World Festival (1st - 5th August 2024)
SHARE

Another World Festival is being advertised on the internet as a multiday music festival being held in Wrexham from the 1st to 5th August this year.

Tickets are available to purchase through a third party ticket platform and have been on sale since August last year.

The website includes business information about the event organiser who is WCE Ltd, a UK company registered in March 2023.

Given the description of the event made on the website, a licence will be needed from Wrexham Council.

There is currently no licence for the event and no application has so far been received.

A multi-agency Safety Advisory Group would also be needed to review all aspects of event safety.

Event organisers have so far made no approach to engage with the Safety Advisory Group to discuss and agree all safety related aspects of the event.

Wrexham Council cannot issue the required licence without the co-operation of WCE Ltd. The event cannot legally proceed without a licence.

The Another World Music Festival promoted for August of this year, prior to today had been advertised to contain “3 Huge Stages” “80+artists” and “over 40,000 guests”.

Officers at Wrexham Council have sought to meet with the event organisers over the last few months in an effort to provide advice, support and outline any regulatory steps required to hold the event in a safe manner.

The event organiser has been encouraged in writing to submit an application for a premises licence for the event in a timely manner.

The Temporary Event Notice (TEN) process is commonly used for small events such as a village fete or holding a wedding reception at a community centre for example and have a maximum capacity of 499 people which is to include all festival goers, festival staff and the festival artists.

We would encourage any event organisers to submit a licence application or temporary event notice in a timely manner as both processes are subject to consultation and if any objections or representations were received, it would lead to a hearing by the Council’s licensing committee.

At the hearing, the committee will either approve, add conditions or reject the licence application or notice.

Both processes are subject to an appeal at a Magistrates Court within 21 days of the decision.  It is an offence to make a false statement in an application.

Despite requests, at no point has WCE Ltd met with Officers of Wrexham Council and the Safety Advisory Group to discuss the operation of this Event.
