Wrexham’s online Wellbeing Portal shortlisted for national award

An online portal that allows Wrexham residents to access lots of prevention and early help services all in one place, has been shortlisted for a national award.

Wrexham Council’s Wellbeing Portal has been chosen as a finalist at this year’s prestigious Accolades awards.

The awards are organised by Social Care Wales, and are open to care workers and organisations from across the public, voluntary and independent sectors.

Launched in 2023, the portal was developed after extensive consultation with professionals and families, and is a gateway to support on a range of topics including:

  • Family life
  • Young people
  • Children with disabilities
  • Benefits and debt
  • Housing
  • Child development
  • Mental wellbeing

Councillor John Pritchard, lead member for adult social care, said: “When people go to the portal, they only have to fill in their information once – so they don’t have to fill-in their details again and again for every service they want to access.

“It just makes life so much easier for people trying to access services, and as a council we want to make it as easy as possible for families and individuals to get the support they need.”

Councillor Rob Walsh, lead member for children’s social services, added: “Lots of families and parents use the portal to get help and advice on a wide range of topics, and it’s proved to be a really useful tool.

“It’s a great example of how online services can be used by social care providers to support people, and we’re delighted that the portal has been shortlisted for an Accolades award.”

It’s not the first time the portal has been shortlisted for an award. Last year it was named winner of the Digital Achievement category at the Granicus UK Public Sector Awards.
