Famous for so many songs in classic movies, you are not going to want to miss the opportunity to see this rock legend at Wrexham Library.

The singer and songwriter of 80’s hits such as ‘St. Elmo’s Fire’ (from the film of the same name), ‘The Minute I Saw You’ (from Three Men and a Baby) and power ballad ‘Restless Heart’ (from the Arnold Schwarzenegger film, The Running Man) will be at Wrexham Library on August 5, 6pm.

John Parr has written a short film and music score based on the life of poet Hedd Wyn (born Ellis Humphrey Evans), a welsh-language poet who was killed on the first day of the Battle of Passchendaele during World War I. This event will give you the chance to see the film and take part in a Q&A with John Parr afterwards.

He was posthumously awarded the bard’s chair at the 1917 National Eisteddfod. At the chairing ceremony the empty chair was draped in a black sheet as a mark of respect and was delivered to Evans’s parents in the same condition. That Eisteddfod is now referred to as Eisteddfod y Gadair Ddu (The Eisteddfod of the Black Chair).

This is a free, English-language event, just call the library to register your place!

If you’re heading to the National Eisteddfod but also want to make the most of the fringe events that week, remember there is a free shuttle bus service that will be running between the eisteddfod and Wrexham General train station all day, every day, during the eisteddfod week.
