Launching on Monday, October 27, the Warm Spaces initiative runs during opening hours of our libraries and offers a variety of services and activities throughout the winter months.

A warm welcome and access to hot beverages are on offer to customers wanting to partake in them.

Read all about it

During your visit, members of the public have free access to national newspapers and hundreds of magazine titles. Welsh language magazines are also available to browse.

In addition to newspapers and magazines, free access to a plethora of books is available for children and adults alike. From classic titles to the most recent bestsellers, there is something for everyone among the shelves.

Books and literature to support learning and health and wellbeing are on offer to peruse during your visit to your local library.

Keeping connected

Along with the seemingly endless amount of books and literature on offer, our libraries offer free Wi-Fi for visitors.

Computers can be used in our libraries for further research or catching up on the latest news.

Something for everyone

Our libraries pride themselves in delivering groups and activities for all ages to bring us all together. No matter what your interests are, you can be sure your library has something for you.

Most of the groups and activities are free to join and booking is not essential – you are welcome to turn up and be a part of some fantastic events.

To give you a feel for what you can look forward to, here’s a rundown of what’s coming up.

  • Welsh conversational groups
  • Friendship groups
  • Knit and Natter groups
  • Craft groups
  • Reading groups for all ages
  • Story and Rhyme Time in Welsh and English for young children
  • Children’s activities

Stay in the loop

Make sure you don’t miss out on all the exciting goings on at your local library by heading over to the libraries website for all the details of upcoming events and much more.

Alternatively, you can follow us on social media to get updates as soon as they go live.

Speaking about the Warm Spaces initiative, Councillor Beverley Parry-Jones, lead member for Corporate and Customer Services said: “The Warm Spaces facility within our libraries is a vital service in our community providing not only a safe and warm space for people, but bringing us together through a variety of excellent groups and activities. It is through programmes such as these that we make new friendships that can last a lifetime. I hope many will take full advantage of the service on offer”.

Could you provide a warm space?

Wrexham Council has received funding of £64,000, via the Welsh Local Government Association, which will be used to support all of Wrexham’s libraries (and the Wellbeing Hub) in providing warm spaces, as well as a small grants scheme for organisations and groups to apply for up to £5,000.

Find out more, including how to apply, on the Warm Places page of the council’s website.
