Wrexham’s multi-award winning markets, community and arts centre Tŷ Pawb is launching a new programme of activities, with free hot meals and activities.
Launching on the 11th December, Warm Welcome at Tŷ Pawb is a new Warm Space project that will offer participants the opportunity to learn new craft skills, in a relaxed social environment with a free hot drink and hot meal.
As part of Wrexham Council’s efforts to support residents through the cost of living crisis, a number of community ‘warm places’ in have been established Wrexham. These are already existing warm spaces where people can come to stay warm, including ten of our libraries and the Wellbeing Hub.
Warm Welcome has been funded through the Warm Spaces Small Grant Fund for the benefit of residents struggling with the cost of living.
Providing “warmth, support, and connection”
Lead Member with Responsibility for Tŷ Pawb, Cllr Hugh Jones said: “It can sometimes be difficult for many to stay warm and access social and leisure opportunities during winter months. Through these sessions, we aim to support participants to feel well, access the arts and connect with their neighbours.
“These new activities compliment Tŷ Pawb’s existing programme, which now includes at least one free, daytime activity taking place in the market hall every day from Monday to Saturday.”
Lead Member for Corporate and Customer Services, Councillor Beverley Parry-Jones said: “The Warm Spaces programme provides a vital service in our community providing not only a safe and warm space for people, but bringing us together through a variety of excellent groups and activities. It is through programmes such as these that we make new friendships that can last a lifetime. I hope many will take full advantage of the service on offer”.
Lead Member for Economy & Regeneration, Councillor Nigel Williams said: “Wrexham’s community spaces are more than just buildings; they are vital hubs of warmth, support, and connection. They offer a save haven for many when temperatures drop. Credit must go to all the teams participating in the Warm Spaces programme this winter. I would urge everyone to share this information so that all those in need are able to access this vital service.”
