Come on down to Wrexham’s Markets

As many will already be aware, Wrexham has a very rich heritage when it comes to indoor markets which have stood the test of time.

And that local tradition certainly hasn’t evaporated here in the City Centre.

Following extensive restoration projects in recent years, both Butcher’s and General Market’s boast both the feel, look, and design of traditional, Victorian style markets with modern twists which have allowed the stalls to keep up with modern times and public expectations.

Shoppers can enjoy a positively unique and diverse retail experience across both markets with a bit of something for everyone’s tastes.

So, whether that be something new to wear for the weekend, a new book, clothes and shoe repairs or some films and music.

Wrexham Market’s will have it for you.

Bucking the trend

The rise of online shopping, home delivery services and the many chain operators who carry out these services can pose a perceived threat to the long-term sustainability of indoor markets in a way which many things haven’t done before.

But the “McDonald’s effect” or the psychology behind the predictability of using global brands can often distract people from what is available on our doorsteps.

But our stallholders in Wrexham are determined to reverse that trend and give people every opportunity to engage and experience the best of what market shopping has to offer.

Fancy a go?

There are currently vacancies available at stalls across the two markets at some very reasonable prices.

There are a variety of different sized market stalls available for rent with prices starting from just £175 per month.

So, if you do run a small business and potentially thinking about branching out and having a go a running a market stall…

Get in touch with the Wrexham Markets team or the Business Support team.

The plans for the rest of 2026 inc Christmas

The markets will be open until 8pm on Saturday 14th November for the Christmas light switch on, with late night shopping every Thursday in December until 8pm (3rd, 10th & 17th).

They will also be open every Sunday in December 11am-3pm (6th, 13th, 20th) with extended trading hours for the Victorian Christmas Market: Thursday, Friday & Saturday open until 8pm, open 11am-4pm on the Sunday with pop up stalls throughout the 4 days between 26 & 29 November

There will also be Santa’s grotto at the Butchers market throughout December.

So quite a schedule!

A final word…

Councillor Nigel Williams, Lead Member for Economy, Business and Tourism said: – “the investment that both of the Wrexham Markets have received in recent years have been a fantastic and worthwhile addition to the City Centre which boasts a rich history of indoor markets and trade of this nature.

“The continuation and modernisation of these markets through substantial public funding should be celebrated and utilised to its maximum through the modern, well equipped facilities themselves and the support on offer from our Business Support Team for start-ups and entrepreneurs.

“Which is why I would encourage anyone who is interested in setting up stall in the City Centre to get in touch with us and start their journey towards a successful business venture in Wrexham.

“Wrexham is generally on the up and it’s a fantastic opportunity to be part of that upward trajectory and to play your part within that.”
