The Friends of Bellevue, together with the staff that look after the park raised the Green Flag at Bellevue Park.  The Green Flag Award is the national standard for quality parks and green spaces and is managed in Wales by Keep Wales Tidy. Bellevue Park has achieved the award every year since 2005.

Bellevue Park is managed by Wrexham County Borough Council and is located near the centre of Wrexham. A traditional Edwardian Park it was first opened in 1910, and is now a well maintained and well used facility, which offers a range of facilities and a relaxing green space close to Wrexham’s centre.

Environmental charity Keep Wales Tidy recently revealed that 315 sites in Wales have received the internationally renowned Green Flag Award and Green Flag Community Award. The six sites in Wrexham awarded the Green flag are Alyn Waters, Acton Park, Ty Mawr, Acton, Bellevue and Wrexham Cemetery in recognition of their environmental efforts, excellent visitor facilities, and community involvement.

You can see the full list of parks in Wrexham alongside videos that give you a quick glimpse of what nature has to offer across the county borough – whether it’s a gentle stroll, run, cycle or family picnic, Wrexham’s country parks provide amazing spaces for it all!

Lead Member for Environment Cllr Terry Evans said “This is great news and thanks must go to all the staff and volunteers who’s hard work is reflected in the quality of our green spaces.

In Wales, the awards scheme is run by Keep Wales Tidy. Lucy Prisk, Green Flag Coordinator for Keep Wales Tidy said:

“We’re thrilled to see 315 green spaces in Wales achieving the prestigious Green Flag status, which is testament to the dedication and hard work of hundreds of staff and volunteers. “Quality green spaces play a vital role in the physical and mental well-being of people across Wales, and to be recognised as among the best in the world is a huge achievement – Congratulations!”
