Statement from Chief Executive at Wrexham Council Ian Bancroft:

I announced in October that I planned to leave the Council during 2025. Further to conversations within the Council I have decided to leave on 31 December 2024 which will enable the change to happen from the beginning of 2025. This allows for the Council to plan for the future.

I will be in a personal position to plan for the future through making this early decision.

I would like to thank all councillors, close colleagues and the wider workforce at the Council, and local and regional partners who have been of support to Wrexham and to me during this time at the Council.

The future for Wrexham is bright and I am proud to have made such a contribution in my time as Chief Executive.

Statement from Cllr Mark Pritchard, Leader of Wrexham Council:

The Chief Executive will be leaving the council on 31 December 2024 and processes will now commence to appoint an interim Chief Executive in the New Year ahead of appointing a permanent Chief Executive later in the year.
