The North and Mid Wales Trunk Road Agency (NMWTRA) has announced major resurfacing works on the A483 Junction 7 Rossett Interchange from 5 February that are scheduled to last for 9 weeks.
The works involve:
- removing the worn-out surfacing,
- repairing and/or replacing the underlying concrete slabs
- resurfacing with an improved surfacing product
The works will affect traffic both ways and there will be a contraflow in operation allowing one lane of traffic in either direction.
Will the A483 be closed at all during the works?
There will be full overnight closures at certain times within the programme to enable the installation and dismantling of the temporary traffic management system required to undertake the works. There will also be full overnight closures at the end of the programme as well to enable repairs and resurfacing within the crossover area.
Diversions will be in place during the closures.
The works are needed as the road surface has reached the end of its serviceable life. Once repairs are complete, the new surfacing will have none of the existing transverse joints which cause unacceptable amounts of noise when driven over by cars. The work will also significantly reduce any unplanned closures for emergency repairs on this section of the A483.
Cllr David A Bithell, Deputy Leader with responsibility for strategic transport, said, “Whilst the announcement that works will take place is welcomed it will nevertheless cause inconvenience to users of this busy road.
“Please allow plenty of time for your journey.
“Once completed this stretch of the highway will be far more pleasant to drive on”
