Today (Monday 22nd June) we raised the Armed Forces Day flags above the Guildhall to show our support for the men and women who make up our armed forces community.
This year’s armed forces week takes place between Monday June 22nd to Sunday June 28th.
Wrexham Mayor, Councillor Jeremy Kent, said:
“We are proudly flying the Armed Forces Flag to honour and thank our Armed Forces personnel and their families for the sacrifices they make, and for their unwavering commitment, dedication, and service to our country.
“As part of my term in office as Mayor and with the support of Armed Forces Champion Cllr Beverly Parry Jones we have introduced a Mayors’ Cadet scheme. This scheme is a civic post open to members of local cadet organisations with the chosen cadet supporting the Mayor at public engagements as they serve as an ambassador for youth in the community.”
Armed Forces Champion at Wrexham Council, Cllr Beverley Parry Jones said “It was a pleasure and privilege to have raised the Armed Forces flag at the Guildhall today alongside the mayor and other dignitaries.
“We have many strong links with the armed forces here in Wrexham.
“Is always apparent with the large attendances at commemorative events in the city that acknowledge the work and sacrifices of the armed forces and their families.”
